katie

this is katie. she is a full-of-life and energetic 3-year-old. although she has athetoid cerebral palsy, this doesn't stop her. (athetoid cerebral palsy is type of CP that is characterized by involuntary movements rather than spasticity.)

katie continues to improve in her walking and can now walk across the room without losing her balance. i also often find her climbing on/off anything that is available to her. while she likes to be active, she can also sit, stay focused, and work with someone for 30 minutes (or longer) on an activity; she likes to stack blocks, manipulate snap beads, look at books, and do puzzles.

katie has a big personality and i'm pretty convinced she's 100% extrovert. if she hears someone talking in the hallway or a neighboring room, while she's in her crib, she will do whatever she can (including, but not limited to, yelling for them, rocking her crib, stomping her feet, etc.) to get their attention; she hates being left out.

katie is vocally expressive and will point or use other body language when i can't understand her. (some amount of speech apraxia + local dialect make it difficult for me to fully grasp her language skills). she follows simple commands and will help the nannies by retrieving various things upon request.

katie has a love and concern for the other children as well; she is quick to share her toys and can be found checking on her roommates if she hears one of them crying.

katie needs a forever family!
